Double Demerits 17-21 April 2025

Double demerits are in force Thursday April 17 till Monday April 21 2025 inclusive.
Get caught speeding, using a mobile phone illegally, not wearing or incorrectly wearing a seatbelt or motorcycle helmet this long weekend and you’ll face double the points.

Double demerits start at midnight tonight and continues until 11:59pm Monday 21 April 2025.

Youth Week Outdoor Movie Night – A Fantastic Evening in Gol Gol

Wentworth Shire Council is pleased to share the success of the Youth Week Outdoor Movie Night held on Friday 11 April 2025 at Gol Gol Football Oval.

More than 300 attendees gathered for an evening of entertainment under the stars, enjoying perfect weather and a relaxed atmosphere as part of the NSW Youth Week 2025 celebrations.

The event was proudly supported by Wentworth Shire Council, with organisational assistance from Wentworth Shire Libraries.

Council extends its congratulations to the students of Coomealla High School, whose collaboration and enthusiasm played a key role in delivering a memorable event for young people in the region.

Temporary Closure of Council Services – Anzac Day Public Holiday

All Wentworth Shire Council services will be closed Friday 25 April 2025 for the Anzac Day public holiday.

The Wentworth Visitor Centre will be open in a limited capacity between the hours of 10:30am and 12:30pm to allow members of the public to access essential amenities and to view Memorial Boards for the duration of the Wentworth Anzac Day service.

Normal services/operating hours re-commence from Saturday 26 April 2025.

Council services include:

  • Customer Service Centres
  • Buronga Animal Shelter
  • Council Depot, Workshop & Stores
  • Libraries
  • Waste Facilities
  • Visitor Information Centre (including Junction Cafe)

As school holiday visitors explore our region, Council encourages locals and guests to support Wentworth in the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards. Voting closes 11.59pm, Sunday 4 May.

Arumpo Road Re-opening today at 4pm

Wentworth Shire Council advises that Arumpo Road will re-open to all traffic from 4pm today, Friday 11 April 2025.

The road was temporarily closed from the Wamberra Road intersection through to the Euston Prungle Road intersection to allow for the final stage of bitumen sealing works (24.5km).

Council thanks the community for its patience and cooperation during the closure.

Wentworth Shire Council services will be closed during the Easter public holiday period, with limited exceptions:

  • Friday 18 April (Good Friday) – All Council services closed.
  • Saturday 19 April: All services closed, except Wentworth Visitor Information Centre which will be open from 9am until 1pm.
  • Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday) & Monday 21 April (Easter Monday) – All services closed except:
    • Wentworth Visitor Information Centre open 9am – 1pm
    • Buronga Landfill open 8am – 4:45pm.
