Murray River Adventure Trail – Stages 2 & 3

Murray Regional Tourism are seeking final feedback on Stages 2 & 3 of the draft alignment for the Murray River Adventure Trail from the people who know the Murray best – our community.
Whether you’re into walking, cycling, canoeing or kayaking… this multi-sport adventure trail aims to connect along the length of the Murray, offering visitors a range of unique experiences to enjoy nature and take in the offerings within our regions.
During August 2024, Murray Regional Tourism asked for the community’s feedback on the draft trail alignment.
Since then, the Project Team have been working through over 250 community contributions and working closely with both stakeholders and Traditional Owners to incorporate the valuable insights into the updated Concept Design.
Murray Regional Tourism are now excited to share the updated Concept Design, to ensure the initial feedback has been adequately addressed and provide a final opportunity for the community to contribute.
Parks Victoria are already delivering Stage 1 (around Echuca/Moama). Now, Murray Regional Tourism are undertaking Stages 2 & 3 – to Wentworth in the west, and Albury/Wodonga in the east.
To help gather feedback from the community, Council are helping to spread the word in our region and invite you to provide your feedback.

Wentworth Shire Council is planning an exciting upgrade to the public open space at 48 Dawn Avenue,
Gol Gol, and we want your feedback. The project will transform the current drainage basin into a
vibrant community area, featuring:
- Grassed recreation areas
- Shared walking and cycling paths
- Native landscaping
- Improved drainage
Council invite you to attend a pop-up consultation session:
- Session 1: Thursday 31 October 2024, 5:00pm – 6:30pm
- Session 2: Saturday 2 November 2024, 10:30am – 12:00pm

Murray River Named One of National Geographic’s Best of the World for 2025!

It’s official – the Murray River has been named as one of the Best Destinations in the world!
According to National Geographic, the Murray River has profiled among 25 Top Destinations in the prestigious ‘Best of the World’ List for 2025. The annual list was unveiled today to help travellers plan ahead for their next holiday.
Wentworth Shire is incredibly grateful to be part of the Visit the Murray region and the Murray Regional Tourism team. Wentworth and Surrounds are only one region located along the mighty Murray River, but together, we have created a destination that has now been recognised globally.

You must slow down to 40km/h when overtaking or passing a bus displaying flashing lights, unless a lower speed limit applies.
You can help keep children safe by:
🏫 Sticking to the speed limit and following the road rules in school zones
🚌 Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing, unless a lower speed limit applies
🚸 Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes
⤴️ Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic.

Rural Road Safety Month – Heavy Vehicles
Trucks have larger blind spots than the average car which means truck drivers may not be able to see you.
Bicycle and motorcycle riders should take extra care when driving next to or behind a truck and be sure to stay out of their blind spots.

NSW RFS Declares Bushfire Danger Period
Tuesday the 1st of October 2024 will mark the official start of the Lower Western statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) with the RFS urging residents to ensure they are as prepared as possible.
Lower Western District Manager Superintendent Steve Walker is reminding Wentworth and Balranald Shire residents that fire permits will be required throughout the Bush Fire Danger Period.
